How to Guides

Student Wiki

Please note: not all classes utilise Wikis. This guide may not be applicable to you.

A wiki is a collection of collaboratively authored web documents that allows everyone in your class to create a shared web page.

Jump to a section:

Getting started

1. Once the wiki is set up, click on the Wiki link on the class homepage, as shown below:

2. Then, select HTML format and click Create page.

Please note - this "new page" may have already been created. If so, move to step 3.

3. Once the page has been created, or once you have opened the wiki, you can insert text and edit the content using the HTML editor. Firstly, make sure the 'Edit' tab is selected as shown below.

Using the HTML Editor

Using the text editor, you can edit the wiki page by adding or removing content. Use the various buttons to customise the text appearance or to add images and other content.

More buttons are available if you push the first button in the top left corner. You can expand the size of the text window by clicking and dragging the bottom right corner.

 Adding new pages

Inside the HTML editor, type the name of your page inside double brackets (see the screen shot below). You can preview it by clicking the "preview" button towards the bottom of the page.

Once you have added the page, click Save.

Then, click on the new page name ("Page 1" in the example screenshot) and you will be prompted to create that page. (Repeat these instructions for all additional pages, if required).
